Lekki Deep Seaport has received the maiden call of the HMM-ONE alliance service, marking the launch of the Mediterranean West Africa Service (MA2) and adding another direct link between Nigeria and international markets.
The container service is operated jointly by Hyundai Merchant Marine and Ocean Network Express, and connects major European ports with West African destinations. Lekki Port managing director Wang Qiang said the arrival reflects growing confidence among leading global shipping lines in the terminal’s capabilities.
For Nigerian importers and exporters, the new rotation means more direct vessel calls, improved cargo movement and wider trade options, further establishing Lekki as a gateway port for the sub-region and deepening its place in global shipping networks.
