Equities Rebound as Market Capitalisation Gains N719 Billion

The Nigerian equities market snapped back into positive territory as overall market capitalisation rose by N719 billion in a single session.

The rebound extends what has been a remarkable run for Nigerian stocks, which Bloomberg recently ranked among the world’s best performing.

Momentum has been supported by the reform story around the capital market — including S&P Dow Jones Indices placing Nigeria on its 2027 Frontier Market watchlist — and by investors rotating into equities as inflation shows signs of peaking.

Bank and consumer-facing counters have been central to the rally, with liquidity returning to the bourse.

For long-term investors, the deeper question is whether earnings growth can keep validating the re-rating; for now, the tape says confidence is returning.
